Well today I finally met with Avery and Ashleigh of Ovarian Cancer Canada to finally finalize our 2015 “In The Face of an Angel” Golf for Ovarian Cancer Tournament held at Ayren Links Golf Course and I was able to present them a cheque from the tournament for $8,150. I am sure they must have been thinking we would never be able to catch up with each other, but how fantastic it was to be able to give them another wonderful donation from this little tournament. When we added in the online donations of $1,050 PLUS the offline donations of $1,195 the grand total this tournament made for Ovarian Cancer Canada was $10,395 ! There were high fives all around! I know Avery was elated, as today was her last day with this Ovarian Cancer Canada group because she was heading to Whitehorse to finally meet up with her hubby! What a great guy he must be to have put up with such a long time in this long distance relationship as newly weds! The sacrifices they make for Cause! The people of Whitehorse don’t realize what a cracker jack volunteer they are getting in Avery but it won’t be long until they do!
Prepping for 5th Annual In The Face of an Angel Golf for Ovarian Cancer
Special thanks to our fantastic caterer, Dee’s Harvest Table, to sponsors The Castle Cellar, Archibald’s Orchards, Ayren Links, Municipal of Clarington Social Committee, Veridian, Algoma Orchards, The Old Newcastle House, Covanta, Brightstar Newcastle Group, Palmieri’s No Frills, Ivan B Wallace OLS, Gay Construction, Kaitlin Group, Shoppers Drug Mart Newcastle, Syvan Developments, St. Mary’s Cement, Walsh’s SNUG, Newcastle Recycling Ltd.Without you we could not begin to do what we do for Ovarian Cancer Canada!
A special thank you too, to all the businesses that contributed Silent Auction items… as a successful Silent Auction is truly where we have the most fun raising these funds! Thanks again to all of you special people! Way to many to name here but lets just say that many small businesses in our little communities truly show just how generous they are for the Cause and why I love to call this area my home!
A personal THANK YOU to the volunteers that come out no matter what the weather is (and Lord knows this year was like golfing in November, not May!) it goes without saying how invaluable you all are to me and the success of this tournament.
Our cumulative total for our short 5 years doing this is now over $50,000
Ovarian Cancer Canada has advised me they will now keep the “donation page” open for us to be able to donate through the year so if you want to donate when someone passes away for example, you will be able to go to our website, http://www.inthefaceofanangel.ca and donate through their secure page that is linked to this and donate without any concerns. You will also be able to take advantage and donate using your visa/mc or amex on a monthly plan if it is easier for you. Along with all the other options, you can’t beat that option now can you!?
I am humbled by your continued generosity. The true winner in all of this is Ovarian Cancer Canada and the Outreach and Research programs they are able to provide with this funding to the hundreds of women in need of this support in our communities.
Rain, Sleet, Snow, or Hail does not deter the women who continue to golf in this tournament! Each and every one of them are troopers who play not only for the love of the game but for the Cause. Thank You Ladies for another super year and as you prepare to put your clubs away for this season, think back and remember it was each and every one of you who helped achieve this remarkable goal and for that I am forever grateful. See you May 29th, 2016 for our 6th “In The Face of an Angel” Golf for Ovarian Cancer Tournament! Save the date, won’t you?
